Spinal Decompression

Spinal decompression therapy is an extremely safe and effective treatment for neck, back, leg, and arm pain, bringing significant and lasting pain relief to patients since 1991.  This non-surgical approach, slowly lengthening the spine with a pull tension and then giving partial release in repeated incremental steps, decompresses the intervertebral discs.   Carefully measured and administered, this process helps the body to heal itself by creating a negative pressure vacuum within the disc which pulls disc material back into its rightful place between the vertebra.

This disc material, so vitally important to pain-free and fluid movement of the spine, once back within its proper boundaries, can then be re-nourished, becoming healthier and more functional.  Discs that previously cushioned spinal movement and prevented nerve irritation are able to do their job once again.

Our decompression system is exceptional in treating both neck and low back, and effective for:

  • Ruptured discs
  • Spinal stenosis
  • Sciatica
  • Facet Syndrome
  • Failed surgery
  • Neck pain and stiffness
  • Headache or low back pain
  • Upper extremity pain, weakness, and numbness
  • Thoracic outlet syndrome
  • Carpel tunnel syndrome

Dr. Shapiro will determine whether or not you are a candidate for spinal decompression, and the number of sessions needed.  In our office we sometimes incorporate Active Therapeutic Movement (ATM) and/or oxygen therapy for most effective results.

How do I get started?

We will help you determine if this is a treatment suitable for you.  Please call our office at 707-445-2570 to set up a free consultation with Dr. Shapiro.  He will talk with you personally in order to help you make the right decision.

If you have any X-rays or MRI reports, please bring them with you when you first meet with the doctor so he can review them and advise you about your treatment options.  If you have not yet been evaluated for your condition, Dr. Shapiro can make a complete evaluation and arrange for any X-rays or MRI that may be necessary.
